This workshop will be discussing Generative AI, what it means for creators, where the law is, and where we will be headed. Generative AI can be used to create text, images, video, music, and more and is increasingly being discussed as a tool. But what is the law surrounding it, and what does it mean for creators?

We will begin with an explanation of how generative AI works and how it takes massive amounts of artistic works in order to function. We will then discuss the legal problems with generative AI. The first is area we will discuss is the questions of infringement. We will then talk about issues of copyright ownership when working with Generative AI, including recent decisions by the copyright office. This is a technology that has large implications for creators, so it's important to understand what it is and what it means.
